"Associate
Producer? Hey, I've been called worse things in my time."
ACT 1
Tallahassee, Florida is known for two things: It's the home
of the National Weather Service Forecast Office and the birthplace
of Jordan Freid. "I didn't like it much as a child," explains
Jordan, "the place had too many S's and E's in it and I would
always flunk class for spelling it incorrectly." Desperate to
upgrade their son's scholastic self esteem to a higher level
his parents moved to a small town full of nuclear scientists
called Oak Ridge in another state. Things seemed to be going
much better until Jordan returned from his first day at his new
school with an F for spelling: Oak Ridge is in Tennessee.
ACT 2
Reaching his prime Jordan split for a place that was much easier
to spell, California, and spent time studying at Berkley, Fullerton
and Florida State. Ugly rumors that he was changing schools fast
to keep one step ahead of the law are refuted by the MFA in Screenwriting
he finally and proudly secured.
After some time working in the rock video trenches with lots
of musicians in spandex Jordan went on the road and traveled
to Berlin, Budapest, Rome, Paris, London, Japan, China, India
and Hong Kong on the International Honors Program studying Film,
Television and Culture; when interrogated Jordan admits that
the "culture" part of the program covered a number of things
but mostly drinking exotic liquor.
After securing a reputation as a fine writer for Details magazine
Jordan flew to East Africa to spend six months making a documentary
on witch doctors who treated people with AIDS. On his return
from the Dark Continent he wrote and directed his first film
NOTE COME DUE - a gripping voyage into the mind of Robert Johnson,
the man who fathered the blues.
ACT 3
After traversing half the globe and experiencing many of the
world's oldest and most diverse cultures first-hand Jordan has
returned to California with this fine insight: "As far as I'm
concerned my life would be worthless without Spelcheccking and
microwave ovenz."
